| Born into a good wizard family, Tsubaki lived contentedly for most of her early life in prim house in Kensington in London. Her parents were kind and supportive, her father often teaching his children about their heritage. The family tree was traced back to Japan, hence why he kept heirlooms like vases, dolls, fans, scrolls, even old weapons on display in the house. Of course, most of the time he had to spend working for the Ministry in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes as part of the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee, leaving his wife to look after Masamune and Tsubaki. Being a timid child, Tsubaki often helped her mother with cooking and sowing, also letting her big brother get his way when they played together, but her nice behaviour and good intentions caused Masamune to resent his sister, especially when relatives and some of their fathers co-workers would comment on how lovely their friend's daughter was. Tsubaki was frightened of how her brother was behaving as they got older, hearing how he caused problems and got into a lot of trouble when he went to Hogwarts. However, the final straw was when the children overheard their parents discussing one night on how they planned to put Tsubaki down as the family's first heir, due to feeling Masamune was showing no signs of trying to change his ways. Masamune flew into a rage, took one of his fathers prized katana swords off the wall, and stormed out of the house, and wasn't seen again until a few years later, when he had joined the Death Eaters. He was responsible for many ferocious attacks on the wizard and muggle worlds, and was nicknamed 'The Demon Blade' due to the sword he carried with him. Eventually he was caught, and locked away in Azkaban, but under very quiet and confidential circumstances through his father's work, so only the family and Ministry officials knew about it. Tsubaki had only just received her invitation to go to Hogwarts that summer, and he didn't want his daughter getting picked on at school because of her older brothers violent criminal streak. Despite efforts by her parents to make her understand it wasn't her fault, Tsubaki still carries some guilt over driving Masamune to become what he was, still loving the memory of her big brother all through school. She kept a picture of them when they were little amongst her belongings, but as time went on, as she made friends and started to enjoy herself, she learned to live with the pain, and find some happiness in her life. |
